Fan Art And Fanfiction Contest Winners!

Guys, it’s finally time to announce the winners of the IDIA Fan Art And Fanfiction Contest! I didn’t get as many submissions as the first year, but I’m still super excited about the ones I got. It was a really hard decision to make, but I got both fan art and fanfiction. Because only four people submitted, I decided that all of them will receive the bookmarks (yay!!!), but we still have to decide the winners. So let’s see the submissions!

Art

This lovely picture was submitted by Deborah O’Carroll when she received her copy of Lightporter! Isn’t it amazing? It looks so nice with the sky in the background!

Doesn’t this look so cool? This looks like something straight off of the pages of a graphic novel, and I love the touch with the bird mask. It definitely looks like Finch!

Ezra by Elizabeth Michalski

This one is so great! You can tell that it’s Ezra immediately by the purple hair, and the outfit is definitely something she would wear. And on top of that, it’s so well done!

Fiction (You should definitely go read both of these!)

Steel and Shocks: An IDIA-TSS Crossover Fanfic by Sarah Taleweaver

Sarah did an amazing job on this fanfic! The plot is riveting, and all of the characters were in character, too, especially Blaze! It was fun to see the different supers working together.

This is such a sweet fanfic! Marlene does a great job dealing with Finch’s memory loss and his relationship with his girlfriend, not to mention how well she works the songs into the story. It’s such an emotional read!

Let me tell you, these were both really hard decisions to make, and I loved all of the submissions! But it’s time to finally announce the winners…

The Art winner is…

Ezra by Elizabeth Michalski

Elizabeth did such a good job bringing Ezra to life, and she looks ready to go fight some crime! Awesome job!

The Fiction winner is…

Steel and Shocks by Sarah Taleweaver

Sarah did an excellent job bringing all of the characters to life in a fun story, and she managed to get Blaze exactly right! Well done, Sarah!

As I said before, it was sooo hard to make these decisions, which is one of the reasons why this post was so late. I’d love to hear your thoughts on the submissions, and definitely go read both of those fanfics. They’re amazing! If you submitted, I’ll be emailing you shortly about your bookmarks! Thank you so much to everyone who participated!

Fan Art Contest Update And Some Author Interviews

Hullo, everyone! So technically Saturday was the deadline for the fan art contest… but I definitely forgot to post reminders! So I’m moving the deadline for the fan art/fiction contest to July 31st! So if you still want to submit something, you have more time, and don’t forget to submit it using this form. I’ve already had a few submissions (which I’m super excited about!), but I wanted to allow more time since I didn’t post reminders.

And in other news, I got to do a few author interviews for a recent blog tour with three other authors! It was a lot of fun to answer the questions! You can find one of the interviews here. It was mostly a small blog tour, but still fun.

I plan to post again soon, but let me know in the comments below what posts you would like to see me write. Movie reviews? Book reviews? More guest posts? Book updates? Posts about writing? Comment below with your thoughts!

IDIA Fan Art And Fan Fiction Contest 2018!

Hullo, everyone! Welcome to day three of the release tour for Lightporter! I’m so excited to be able to do another fan art and fan fiction contest for you guys! The last one was so much fun, and I was so excited to hear that you’re interested in another one. I’ve already heard that some people are work on ideas, so I can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with. Here’s the information for the contest!

  • This contest is open to any IDIA-themed creation! Fan fiction, drawings, digital art (that includes quote pictures), costumes, pictures of the book, fanmade covers or book trailers… pretty much anything! If you want to know if something counts, just comment below and ask me.
  • All works must be submitted by June 30th, and the results will be announced on Twinepathy‘s second birthday, July 4th!
  • Please, nothing obscene or inappropriate. Such entries will be immediately disqualified, so please don’t spend your time working on something that would just be disqualified. (If you have questions about this, just ask!)
  • You can submit as many works as you like.
  • Depending on the number of submissions, different categories may or may not be added, and the prizes adjusted accordingly.
  • Speaking of prizes, first place will win a set of IDIA-themed bookmarks! Depending on the number of submissions, I may adjust the prize, but this is my current plan. 😀
  • If you have any questions or concerns, just let me know!

If you want to see some examples, you can check out last year’s contest and the fan art page. Here are some quotes that Sara designed based off of the first chapter of Lightporter!

Aren’t they wonderful?? I can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with. So bookmark this page and come up with some IDIAs to submit. 🙂 In the meantime, check out the schedule to read some of the awesome posts that have gone up so far this week!

Are you excited for the contest? I know I am! Comment below with your thoughts and ideas, and don’t forget to check out the posts from this week!

Winner of the IDIA Fan Creations Contest!

Hullo, everyone! The IDIA Fan Creations Contest officially closed on Monday, which left me with the difficult task of… deciding a winner. I have absolutely loved seeing all of you guys’ creations, and it was so hard for me to just choose one winner. All of the submissions were so awesome, and I got so excited every time I got a new submission. 😀 So I thought I’d share all of the submissions with you before announcing the winner. I’m putting them on here in the order that they were submitted. Enjoy!

Madeline J. Rose – Quote Pictures

Twinepathy Quote “Change” – Madeline J. Rose

Twinepathy Quote “Antarctica” – Madeline J. Rose

Twinepathy Quote “Friends” – Madeline J. Rose

Aren’t these awesome??? I especially like the mask on the last one. 😀

Esther – Quote Pictures

Twinepathy Quote “Blaze” – Esther

Twinepathy Quote “Together” – Esther

These two are so pretty! And that second quote is one of my favorites that I forgot about writing. 🙂

Jemma – Character Drawings

Albany – Jemma

Maddie – Jemma

Brooklyn – Jemma

Blaze – Jemma

These are officially the first character drawings done for the IDIA series! Eeeep!!! 😀 I was so excited to see these! Jemma did a great job, and I love how the clothing reflects the characters and is pretty much exactly what the characters would wear (especially Albany’s Flash shirt).

Elizabeth – Character Art

Blaze – Elizabeth

Maddie Through The Peephole – Elizabeth

Aren’t these so amazing??? They look exactly like I pictured them. Plus, the perspective on the picture with Maddie is so cool!

Sara – Quote Pictures

Twinepathy Quote “Shower” – Sara

Twinepathy Quote “Teleport” – Sara

These are so cool! Pun intended. 😉 I really love the design on the shower quote, and that’s one of my favorite quotes from the whole book. 😀

Shay (elvenpadawan) and Sharah – Cosplay

Sisters – Shay (elvenpadawan) and Sharah

Albany and Brooklyn Cosplay – Shay (elvenpadawan) and Sharah

Brooklyn Profile – Shay (elvenpadawan) and Sharah

Albany Profile – Shay (elvenpadawan) and Sharah

IDIA Comic Book Cover – Shay (elvenpadawan) and Sharah

These are so amazing!!! Shay and Sharah did amazing on these pictures! “Day job: Teenager”.  😀 Also, I love that comic book cover that they made. It looks so cool!

This was such a hard decision to make, because I really loved all of these! They were all amazing and I am so glad we had so many people participate. I had to actually use a scoring sheet to help me decide. 😀 So, without further ado, the winner is…

Elizabeth with her drawing of Blaze!

Blaze – Elizabeth

This was seriously so close! But I absolutely loved this drawing that Elizabeth did (as well as the one of Maddie 😀 ), and this is exactly how I pictured Blaze! Great job, Elizabeth! I’ll be contacting you about your prize shortly.

And I have to say a very special thank you to everyone who participated!!! You guys are so awesome, and I loved getting your submissions. If you weren’t able to put together a submission this time,  don’t worry! We’ll probably do something like this again. 🙂

What do you think of the fan art? Would you want to participate in another contest like this? Comment below with your thoughts!!!

It’s Twinepathy’s Birthday!!!! (Cake, Characters, and the IDIA Fan Creations Contest)

Hullo, everyone! I’m so thrilled to tell you that today is Twinepathy’s 1st birthday! It’s been exactly one year since I published the book, and I can’t believe it’s been out so long! So enjoy today’s celebration post, and the launch of the IDIA Fan Creations Contest!

It had been a long week, and all I wanted to do was sleep. My desk had somehow filled with hundreds of papers, and I was afraid that if I moved one, the whole pile would come crashing down. Benedict had tried to keep up with it all, but even he couldn’t keep it all in line.

I glanced at the time on my laptop. Only a minute until midnight. If I’d had my wish, I would’ve been in bed several hours ago, but I had yet to finish the section I’d planned out for today. Maybe I shouldn’t use sleep as a reward for writing, but it seems to work. I sigh as the clock hits midnight.

“SURPRISE!!!!!”

The scream in my ear makes me jump out of my chair, but I trip over my own foot and send the hundreds of papers on my desk flying into the air. Blaze appears next to me, grinning. “Hey, you brought confetti, Bri!”

“Blaze!” I half yell, half moan as I flop into my chair. “How in the world am I going to take care of all these papers?”

He shrugs. “Maybe you should put a speedster in book 3. You’re plotting that, so there’s room there.”

I tug on my ponytail. “Blaze, why are you here?”

Blaze slaps his forehead. “Ah, I forgot to bring in the others. I’ll go get them.” He pauses. “Wait, you really don’t remember? It’s our birthday!”

Honestly, I did forget. With all of the editing and other craziness going on, I hadn’t thought about Twinepathy at all. How in the world had it already been a year since it had been published? “Yeah, I kind of forgot,” I admit.

“How could you forget, Bri?” Blaze laughs, but then he sobers. “But if you don’t have anything planned, what are we going to do to make it special? I just planned for cake.”

An idea flashes into my head, and I grin. “I know just what to do. Let’s let the fans take over!”

Blaze scratches his head. “What do you mean?”

I stand up, pacing. “Let’s have a fan contest! You can host it, Blaze. They can make fanart or fanfiction and win prizes…”

He grins. “I like that idea. When do we start.”

I point at my computer. “Right now!”

Well, hello, wonderful fan people! I’m Blaze, and I’m going to be hosting the first ever IDIA Fan Creations Contest! I mean, I’m the obvious choice, right? To start off, I’ll tell you that anywhere you see words in this color, it’s C.B. speaking. She’s also supervising me for unknown reasons, and insists that this has to start out organized.

Here’s how the contest will work! We’ll be open for submission (any kind) up until July 31st. After that, C.B. will spend a day or two (or as many as needed, since the beginning of August is going to be crazy for me) gathering everything together, and then all of you will be able to vote on who wins! One first place winner will be chosen, and everyone who participates will receive a short story featuring Denver and me! And just so you know, that was my idea. You’re welcome. Below is a basic summary C.B. put together, and you can comment below if you have any questions! You can also ask for me to answer them, specifically, and we’ll hope C.B. lets me.

Oh, and before I go, there are these cool things going on right now called the Silmarillion Awards, and I got nominated for the Most Epic Hero Award. So if you wouldn’t mind going over there and seconding that… After you finish this post, of course. Blaze out!

May Contest: Character Creation Contest

WELL.

Yesterday was the deadline for the Super-Duper Fan Fiction Crossover Challenge 2… and I completely forgot to remind everyone this month.

Whoops.

But instead of doing yet another one, or lengthening that contest, I decided to try something different, and came up with a very intriguing idea.

CharacterCreationContest1

In the Character Creation Contest, contestants will create a character based off of one of three pictures. There will be one winner for each picture. Winners will be judged on (a) creativity, (b) how intriguing the character is, and (c) how well developed the character is. Bonus points if you write a short story (
