Hullo everyone! So I’ve been working on getting some post set up for the future, and I collected a few short stories to post. If you have a minute, would you mind voting on this poll to let me know which one you want to read the most? Thanks guys! 😀
Why hello friends! Look who’s still alive over here! Due to the craziness of school, the last few months I’ve definitely slacked on this blog. So now I return for the summer (and hopefully the rest of the year, too)! I thought I’d update you guys on a few happenings and what to expect soon.
First, I have a stash of short stories from a class I took this semester, so I should be posting those soon. Some of them are outside of my normal genre (superhero), like historical fiction and aliens, but I hope you’ll still enjoy them!
Second, I’ve been making some (slow) progress on IDIA #3, but I’m not sure when that will be released. I have another big novella-novel writing project that I’m super excited about, and that will probably be taking precedence since it’s for school. I’m definitely still working on book 3, though!
Most importantly: I want to know what you’ve been up to! I’ve been out of the loop for a while, so let me know in the comments below about any awesome books you’ve been reading. I love talking with you guys!
Hullo, friends! How is your February going so far? A lot of us are back at school now and struggling through the craziness. Don’t worry, you can make it!
I have a quick update to share with you guys. Twinepathy is up for an award in the YA/Middle Grade category in the TCK Reader’s Choice awards! A couple of you have already voted on there, and thank you so much for your support. If you’ve got a minute, would you mind heading over there and voting? The young adult section is section 12 out of the 16, and I would really appreciate your vote!
How’s your 2019 going so far? Did you get a chance to vote? I’d love to talk to you!
Wow, I can hardly believe that 2018 is over already. It seems like it just started! So for 2019, I came up with a few writing and reading related goals. I thought I’d share them with all of you, and, hopefully, you can help keep me accountable!
- Finish Forcefield. I’m super excited to be working on IDIA #3, and this is my biggest writing goal. I’ve been working on plot ideas, and while I started the book during NaNoWriMo… I didn’t make much progress (and I definitely didn’t win NaNo). I’m hoping to work a lot more on it this year!
- Create a regular writing habit. Right now my goal is around 250 words a day, but in general, I just want to try and write more. Even if that means 100 or 10 words, I want to work on sitting down to write something every day, even with a crazy college schedule.
- Post at least once a month. I’ve been really bad about posting during the school semester, which is understandable due to the amount of work college entails. But it doesn’t take much to whip up a quick blog post at least once a month! This is one I really plan on working on this year.
- Read more! Reading also slips through the cracks when it comes to college. My goal is to read 24 books this year, which is about 2 a month. Even if I can’t read during the semester, I should be able to make that up this summer. We’ll see…
And that’s it! Here’s to a year of (hopefully) more regular blog posts. What are your goals or resolutions for 2019, reading or otherwise? I’d love to hear what they are!
Hello, friends! It’s getting to that time of year where summer is approaching, but you still have to get through finals before it’s officially here. Since summer’s coming up, I’ll most likely have more time to post (yay!), so I thought I would ask you all what you’d like to see me post about the most. If you have any questions about the options, comment below!
Thanks for your help, friends! Comment below about why you chose what you did, and have a wonderful day!
Hello, friends! Can you believe that Indie E-Con is already over??? It’s been a crazy, fun week, and I enjoyed every minute of it! If you missed the posts I did, you can still check them out. I’m doing my best to reply to comments, but sometimes the internet doesn’t like me. I was so excited to post about plot twists, Photoshop, and blogging! Don’t forget to check out some of the other authors’ posts. I didn’t get to read all of them, but the ones I did get to read were great!
And you remember how I mentioned the Indie E-Con Book Awards? Well, Twinepathy won two awards! First, it won Best Trip to Space (or Antarctica!), or the Best Sci-fi Award. The second award was the Best Set of Clues, or best mystery. Thank you all so much for your votes!
If you’d like to read more about the future of Indie E-Con, check out this link. And as a final reminder, Twinepathy is on sale for only a few more days, so pick it up while it’s still $0.99!
Thanks so much for your votes in the Book Awards! What was your favorite part of Indie E-Con? Are you excited for next year? Comment down below!
Hello, everyone! It’s been a while since I’ve actually written a post, but I have big news!
Yup, I just hit 28,670 words in the sequel to Twinepathy, which, if you haven’t found out, is titled Lightporter. I’m not far enough along to post a blurb or a snippet, unfortunately. But I have several other things to announce!
First, I’m going to be participating in my first e-conference! From March 20th-24th, Kendra E. Ardnek will be hosting the Indie Author E-Con. There will be tons of awesome blog posts on a bunch of different blogs, and there’s also going to be contests that you can participate in! First, there’s a writing contest, where you can write a story to fit one of the covers. There will be prizes, and if you get Best-Of for the cover, you get that cover! Go check them out and see if any inspire you. There’s even one I made! 🙂
The second Indie Author E-Con event I wanted to tell you about is the fanart and cosplay showcase for Indie books. I’m very excited about this, as it’ll give some of us indie authors a chance to see how much our readers love our books. If you have an idea for fanart or cosplay for Twinepathy or any other indie books, get started on it now! Trust me, it’ll be fun. I might even be doing some for my favorite indie books, if I have time.
And finally, as celebration for hitting a hundred pages in Lightporter, and because of the Indie E-Con…
Twinepathy is going to be on sale until the end of March! If you haven’t picked up a copy of the book yet, this is your chance! Still not sure if you want to buy it? Read some reviews on Goodreads and Amazon. If you want super detailed reviews, I’d suggest Deborah O’Carroll’s review and Christine Smith’s. They both basically wrote their own book about my book, and they’re super entertaining, so go check them out!
I hope you pick up a copy of Twinepathy and join us for the Indie Author E-Con! Comment below with random ideas for Twinepathy fanfiction, fanart, and cosplays for the E-con. I’d love to see your IDIAs!
*throws confetti* Guess who’s blogiversary it is? Answer: miiiine! Actually, it was Tuesday, but I wasn’t able to finish the post in time. So you get it two days late! I wanted my second blogiversary post to be both creative and interactive, and this is what I came up with. Enjoy!!!
You are an agent of IDIA. Please find a spare sheet of paper and write down a superpower of your choice. Then come up with a one or two syllable code name. If you can’t think of one, comment below and ask for help from others and myself! You don’t need a code name or a superpower to continue, but why not? 🙂
Welcome, Agent. Today I, Database, and IDIA have a desperate need for you. Several movie villains have found their ways into the posts and pages of this blog, and we need your help to weed them out. We only have a small bit of information on each of these, but you can use that info to find their hiding spots.
Loki: He’s full of himself, so you might find him in a spot where his name is on a tower…
Smaug: Sometimes dragons flock to other dragons, even if they’re from different books (not ones by me!).
Red Skull: He’s from the 1940s, so he might go someplace to revenge himself on an old friend, maybe with the White Witch by his side.
Kylo Ren: One of the newest villains on the scene, but his roots go way, way back.
Do us proud,
And there you have it! Use those smart brains and superpowers of yours to figure out where these guys are hiding, then comment down below with what your superpower was and a clue to where one of the baddies is hiding. If you want to add a few extra red herrings, go for it! Enjoy, my friends!
Hullo, everyone! Not expecting a post today, were you? This is going to be just a short update post with a few changes in store, so let’s get on with it!
The first update-change: I will be temporarily pausing posting of Twinepathy. Right now, I’m working on editing the story, and some things are being changed in parts that have already been posted. Because of that, I think it’s necessary to stop posting while I finish editing and get ready for a final once-over before publishing. (Soooo close, guys!) I know you guys are on pins and needles, but hang in there! You’ll get more soon, hopefully!
But in lieu of posting Twinepathy… What am I going to post? I’ll be sticking with the Monday and Friday posting schedule I’ve had, but with different posts. Monday will be writing posts, about writing and storytelling in general, and topics that you guys can request (Have anything you want me to post about? You can post in the comments below asking me about them!). I currently have ideas for some posts about lessons from Star Wars: The Force Awakens about writing–specifically symbolism and speculation, and probably suspense too. Gotta have those S’s. I also have a few ideas for analyzing Captain America: Civil War for some storytelling techniques. So Mondays will be a lot of fun!
On Friday, I’ll be posting one of two things. I’ll either be posting something related to Twinepathy (fanart, fanfiction, collages, snippets, something like that) OR I’ll post something else I’ve written, like a short story or a fanfic. I’m currently brainstorming a fanfic for Civil War… Bucky and Sam are awesome, am I right?
So those are the changes that will be going on in the next few weeks. I hope you guys understand and enjoy the new schedule! I’ll leave all of you with this awesome collage that writefury made (You can check out some others she did for her own characters and other stories on her blog here.):
Hullo, everyone! In case you missed it, yesterday was my blogiversary!!! *throws confetti and sprinkles* As you may have noticed, I hosted a little giveaway for a PDF copy of my novella, Paralyzed Dreams. And I am here to announce the winner.
But before that, let me tell you how I decided the winner. Because suspense and stalling, of course.
I wrote all the contestants’ names down on slips of paper and then put them into my wonderful Avengers cup.
Then I shook it up…
Okay, fine. The winner is…
*throws confetti, glitter, and sprinkles towards Claire* Yay!!! I hope you’ll enjoy!
Now for the “other things” mentioned in the title.
1. THE DEADLINE IS COMING UP FOR THE JUNE CONTEST! Hurry and get your entries in!
And that is all for today, friends! *bows* Until next time!
