About the Writer

Short Version

Just a college student trying to find out where her King is guiding her, while writing the stories of the people she creates, the worlds she wants to live in, and the adventures she dreams about. Also known as a mythical creature called an “author.”

Long Version

First of all, Bri is not my real name. I simply use this name in both Interviews From the Writer’s Desk and Tales from the Writer’s Desk in place of my real name. My current pseudonym is C.B. Cook. Call me Bri, C.B., Albany, or Noodles. Take your pick!

I love God and follow Him, through the tough times and the easy times. He is my King, and He sacrificed His Son to save me. I have a second blog dedicated to this topic. Click here to check it out.

I’m a used-to-be-homeschooler who loves to write and wants to encourage others. I also love superheroes, wonderful movies and books, and, of course, my characters (who I hope you’ll love, too). I hope that someday I’ll get to hear how my writing changed someone’s life.

I’m also a science/math nerd, an on and off crocheter, and a linguist in the making. I have a thing for graphic design, too. I’m an avid fan of Finding Nemo. And The Princess Bride. And Marvel. And National Treasure, Night At The Museum, and Disney. Need I say more?

And, yes, I want to take one of my characters out for coffee sometime. Just to see what happens. 😉

I want to get to know you… but not in a creepy stalker sort of way. Comment and say hi! Don’t worry, I don’t bite.

  1. Captain America rocks!!! He’s definitely the best Avenger. I even have a Captain America tank. *grin* The Winter Soldier was one of the best movies I’ve seen.

    Outside of Middle-earth, of course.

  2. Hey, Bri!
I think it is so awesome that you are a Christian teen (homeschooled) writer, too, and I wish you the best of luck in your endeavors! Our tastes are very similar; my favorite super hero is most certainly Captain America, and I just started reading the Sherlock Holmes stories (well, I actually read the Hounds of Baskerville when I was nine, but I got so terrified that I never read any others, but couple of days ago, I finished A Study in Scarlet and really enjoyed it.)
It is great to “meet” you, and your writing and blog look wonderful!
    God bless,
    Gabrielle

  4. Hello! And thanks so much for commenting on my blog! I was so happy to see it. It’s lovely to meet you! Homeschooling DOES definitely rock, I agree. I am so thankful and blessed to have been! It’s also so nice to meet fellow writers and readers, because those are my biggest hobbies. =D Congrats on your published book by the way!
Haha, I know – Russian is a bear to learn! The alphabet definitely is…oh oosta! It’s like trying to learn it backwards. ^.^
    Dobry vecher!

(And I hope you don’t mind my kind of lengthy comment – I’m just happy to meet someone new and like-minded!)

    • I don’t mind at all, I love meeting others with similar interests, too! 😀
FINALLY! Kak dela? (So much harder to write without the alphabet, now that I know it. :P)
Thanks so much! I’m super excited about getting published. 😀

Nu , spasibo! (haha, I had to cheat and look up Kak dela – I’ve not had a chance to take the learning-Russian-tapes out from the library in a while!) 😀
What are you using to learn Russian? And what other languages do you know? =)
I can imagine!! I can’t wait to be published; all in God’s time. 🙂

        • Amen to that! It took me long enough after I asked my parents about it. 😛
I’m using a book called How To Speak Russian and some tapes that go with it, along with an online site and some youtube videos. 😉

      • Oh that’s a bummer! =/
May I ask, why are you interested in learning Russian? Any particular reason? I just love it, and want to go to Russia one day. 🙂
Also, do you mind if I ask how you found my blog?
I hope you don’t mind these questions!

Well, I’ve always like languages, and after The Avengers… *cough* Thanks, Nat. 😛 But I really want to visit Russia sometime, too. I had this huge list of languages I want to learn, and I figured Russian was the best place to start. 😀
I think I googled “Christian teen authors on wordpress” and you came up. 🙂

  5. Haha, I don’t think I know the Avengers well enough, but that’s funny.
That’s cool that you also really want to visit Russia! Good for you for tackling so many languages – you’ll get there in time, no doubt! Are any India languages on your list? 😀
Ah okay; that’s pretty neat! Thanks for answering my questions. 🙂

  7. Hello!
I saw that you had commented on our family’s blog about “A Hoe in my Hand” magazine.

As for superheroes….well, I’ve only just seen the 1969-or-whatever-it-is Superman, but I thought it was pretty cool. 🙂 x)

    Your blogs are great!

    • It’s a lot of fun! Harder, sometimes, because you have to keep track of your own schoolwork and make sure you don’t forget anything, and you don’t get to see your friends as much.
      Yes to meeting characters! 😀
Thanks so much! I hope you enjoy! 😀

Sry to bother you with this again but did you have a look at my blog. I totally understand if you don’t like it and that is why you might not follow me but could you at least give me some feedback on how to do better?
Thanks in advance, even though you are probably not going to go because I just started blogging so am a beginner, and popular people just don’t want to have to do anything with people like me, but yeah.
