Hullo, everyone! This is a little piece that came out of my frustration for all the new story ideas I keep getting. All stories mentioned are real works-in-progress or new ideas. Enjoy!
I’m literally banging my head on my desk when Benedict comes into my office. He coughs, and I look up, rubbing my now sore forehead. “Yes?” I grumble.
Benedict hands me an envelope. “Another one, from Shadow.”
I let the envelope fall onto the desk, rolling my eyes at the “Confidential” stamp on it. Shadow is the guy who dishes up ideas for me. Right now he is the person I am quite angry with. Emphasis on angry.
“Would you like me to read it for you?” Benedict offers. He’s so helpful, bless his heart. If he weren’t here, I probably would have thrown my computer out the third story window by now.
I sigh and push the envelope across the desk to him. “Does he really think I need this many ideas? This is, like, the fourth one this week! Honestly! I mean, I really loved that twin idea, and the ideas for Chloe were super helpful, but I can’t write all of these at once!”
Benedict’s eyes widen as he reads, and he grins. “This one’s good.”
I groan. “I don’t think I want to hear it.”
He dangles the paper in front of me. “Contemporary Robin Hood story with the possibility of becoming a Cinderella crossover… Oh, and it even has a pretty nice first line.”
I snatch the paper away and read it excitedly. “Oooh! I love it!” I hug the paper to my chest, then moan. “But I have so many other stories…”
Benedict pats my shoulder. “You’ll be fine, Bri. Just set it aside for now and write down any ideas that come to mind. You can make it your reward for getting Chloe’s story done.”
I gaze longingly at the story idea. “Benedict, if you get any more envelopes from Shadow, do me a favor and hide them, okay? I’ve already got two possibilities for NaNoWriMo projects… I don’t think I need any more options.”
Benedict smiled. “Of course.”
Well, what about you? Do you have too many story ideas, or not enough? What’s your favorite not-yet-written idea? Comment below!
I don’t actually know. Right now I’m at a stage where all my focus is on editing one story and finishing another. So. Yeah.

That’s good! I’m still working on the beginning of one. I’m four chapters in and getting more ideas for other stories. 😛

Ouch. That’s annoying. At least it’s not NaNoWriMo, though.

I have a novel WIP, a short story in progress, a mystery story I will be writing next year, an overload of ideas for its sequel, and a desire to work on a twelve dancing princesses retelling which probably won’t happen soon. Oh, and ideas for a WWII novel which I’ve rather abandoned but want to pursue one day. HALP ME.

YES!!! I have an entire folder dedicated to random ideas and about a kajillion of them I want to write now. And a ton that I’ve started and “taken a break” from. 😛

MY GOODNESS YES. This is so my mind every day! XD And I’m so bad about feeding my plot bunnies… I wish I had mind receptionist to screen my ideas for me. Can Benidict recommend a friend for me? *puppy eyes*
Right now I’m fending off mystery related plot bunnies. And it’s all Alan Grant’s fault. I can’t even find it in me to be mad at him. 😛

I’m exactly like that! I have HEAPS of story ideas, all fully set out… my problem is writing them out – not just typing the first 5,000 words! 😀 I hear you!

Oh, I can totally relate to this! I’m always getting new ideas for stories, especially as I’m gearing up to write one I’ve been prepping for for awhile. And it always ends up with me not writing anything >.<

IKR? XD I haven’t written much in my WIP today because of that. *sigh*

Haha, love this. I go through phases with ideas. Sometimes I have none, and sometimes I have too many. Good thing I keep detailed lists, though, because whenever I’m in a drought I just pull one from the pile I create when they come nonstop. 🙂

Same! Lists are a great idea, and so helpful. 😉

It happens to me all the time. EVERYTIME I want write a story, the idea goes away and makes more ideas.
This is so me when I have too many ideas: image:

IKR?! I’ve got a problem. It’s called Doctor Who. And it bred plot bunnies. *scowls* Like a genderswapped AU where the Doctor is always threatening to cut all her hair REALLY short. And cusses at Jack in Gallifreyan when he flirts with her. And is the reason why Martha never gets to go out on dates, because the Doctor’s always like “MINE” whenever anybody is around, like nobody is good enough for Martha. 😛 Possessive elder brother ain’t got nothin’ on the Doctor. 😛

This is so me! Whenever I have too many story ideas in my head, I freak out! But luckily, I write them all down in a place where I remember them. Ex.
Story Name – Setting: Where ever, like this movie and this book
Summary: This is where I do a little summary of the book so that I have an idea of what I want to write about.
:3 hopefully that helps when Shadow give you more ideas. 😀

Hey, that’s a great idea! I tend to write them down on little slips of paper… and then lose them. Your idea is much better. 😉 I’ll have to try that out!
LikeLike
😀 I would lose the slips of paper too. (And then years later discover them… :P) I used to just write all the new stories ideas, but then I get confused on where I was going with it or it didn’t really work out.
🙂 I’m glad you like it!

Exactly! I don’t ever know what to do after that happens, so I just let it sit. Then I come across it one day and I’m all like,”I finally remember where this was going!” I love that moment. XD
So what’s NaNoWriMo like? I haven’t participated in it before (my sister has though, she did the Young Writers Program… I haven’t even done that), but I super want to.

I’m not alone! I currently have *quickly counts documents and notebooks* eleven novels (not to mention novellas or short stories)?
My newest breakthrough idea is a novel that I’m saving for NaNoWriMo *sigh* (it’s called Saving Kendall in case you wanted to know). For NaNo in April, I told myself that if I finished in time I could start my new idea (FYI, it did work. I won and my certificate is hanging proudly on my wall).
Uh! Why do we have to have SO MANY GOOD IDEAS?!

XD That’s exactly what my problem is!!! It’s so frustrating, but at least you know you won’t run out of ideas for a while. 😉

Lists help, and scribling down scenes and ideas so I can put them aside for later.
