Why, hello there! I didn’t mean to disappear this month, but how can I help it when I’m forced to go on a top secret mission to Russia? Or *cough* when I completely forget about blogging. Never fear, August will hopefully be better when it comes to posting.
That aside, let’s move on to the winner’s of the June Picture Perfect Writing Challenge. I had two entries, so instead of doing category winners, I’m just doing one over all winner, which happens to be…
The Writer’s Warning by S. K. Lupu
Congratulations, S. K. Lupu! I’ll be emailing you your winner button shortly. Check out writinganyone’s entry, too! Both contestants did a great job, and it was really close.
Now for August’s contest! I’m super excited about this one! You may (or may not) remember the contest we did in May, the Character Creation Contest. I got such a positive response from that contest that I’ve decided to do it again… only this time with a twist.
I am 99.9% sure that you’re thinking Why hospital? I’ll admit that it does seem very random and it would be the last thing I would pick for a topic… except that my current work-in-progress has quite a few scenes that take place in a hospital. Mostly in the children’s ward, to be specific.
I’m super excited! The prize for this month’s contest is a spot in the novel. Your character will be in the novel! Not as a main character, but as a sort of cameo… with a few speaking parts, of course. Please note that if you win and you would rather keep your character for you own stories, that is perfectly fine. You’ll have the title of winner, but second place will get the prize.
I don’t want to use specific pictures, since that would limit your options, but here are the categories:
1. Child patient
Information that must be included: Name, why they are at the hospital in the children’s ward (what sickness or disease), what condition they are currently in (bedridden, wheelchair, fairly normal), and of course their personality. PLEASE INCLUDE A PICTURE. Ages 5-13, preferably. Need help finding inspiration? Click here for some cute black-and-white kiddo pictures.
2. Nurse, doctor, or other hospital worker
Information that must be included: Name, position, what they usually do, and personality.
Your story can be on whatever topic you choose – their past, how they interact with others, how they are at work or the hospital, their family…
Submission Guidelines
1. Maximum amount of entries is one per category.
2. To submit, post your short story, with the contest button (above), and put a link to your submission in the comments below, OR, if you do not have a blog, you can submit your piece through the contact form on the Talk To The Writer page. (If you post your submission on your blog, tag it with “CCC Hospital Edition” and “The World of the Writer”.)
3. The deadline is August 31st, 2015!!!
If you have any questions, ask below! I can’t wait to see what you guys come up with!

Sweet! Great idea! I read Choe, so I’m one of the 00.1% that wasn’t wondering “why hospital?”. 😉
This’ll be fun! 😀

Thanks! Yeah, I think you’re actually the only one who’s read any of the hospital parts. I just finished chapter two, I need to finish typing it up so I can send it to you. 🙂
I can’t wait to see what you come up with! Do you have any ideas yet?

Might do it, might not. Might have just accidentally adopted another plot bunny… Should be interesting. (Get ready for another major crossover!)

I’m gonna do the child patient. How serious are you wanting it to be?

It doesn’t matter, really. It could be serious or lighthearted.

I solved the mystery of the Sphinx, a.k.a. What on earth is the deal with Christians Anonymous.
They re-post anything tagged “Christian”. I have their pingback on all of my Christian tagged stuff.

I hope so too! As for the deadline, I usually work better if it’s the last day for whatever it is (which might not be good in life…). But I’m almost done! Yay!

Hey! I finally got my story done! Sorry if anything is wrong hospital wise. Today I was spending to much time on Goodreads, and not enough on school and writing my story. But here it is! https://writinganyone.wordpress.com/2015/09/01/karen/

And our power was out at the end of the month, so I’m not even sure if I would have seen the reminder. 😛
