May Contest: Character Creation Contest

WELL.

Yesterday was the deadline for the Super-Duper Fan Fiction Crossover Challenge 2… and I completely forgot to remind everyone this month.

Whoops.

But instead of doing yet another one, or lengthening that contest, I decided to try something different, and came up with a very intriguing idea.

CharacterCreationContest1

In the Character Creation Contest, contestants will create a character based off of one of three pictures. There will be one winner for each picture. Winners will be judged on (a) creativity, (b) how intriguing the character is, and (c) how well developed the character is. Bonus points if you write a short story (

The Rules

1. Maximum amount of characters is one per picture. You can do one for each picture, but not three for one picture.

2. This is about creativity! Think outside the box.

3. To submit, post a description, interview, or short piece with your character on your blog, with the contest button (above) and your chosen picture, and put a link to your submission in the comments below, OR, if you do not have a blog, you can submit your piece through the contact form on the Talk To The Writer page.

4. The deadline is May 31st, 2015!!!

Hopefully I will remember to remind everyone! I can’t wait to see what you come up with, so go get started! Got any questions? Ask below! Also, please vote on this poll, too:

        • I’d be up for suggestions… But usually my main problem is narrowing my ideas down. 😛
So, for the character, could I write a story? Or would it just be a character profile?
(Hey, I just realized the character development post I put up can help me keep my guidelines down. 😉 )

        • Haha, same here.
You can do both, or just one. It doesn’t matter. Just show me the character in some way, preferably an interesting one. 😉
Ooh, yes, it could! I’ve been using it, I must say. Ellis and Teel have the same Myers-Briggs type. 😉

        • I know! now I can’t wait to read about Teel. 🙂
You saw on my post that Jean and Robin, my two female protagonists, are complete opposites? That one was a surprise. XD And Cobalt and Jean only have one letter in common. I only did Ubel the other day, but his result as the ENTP was perfect.

        • Well, Robin’s an ENFP too, so that’s a little weird. There’s a lot of difference between Ts and Fs, though. I’ve come out as an ISFP or ISFJ… I identify with both descriptions, though. 😉
Oh, just thought I’d let you know… while I was reading your post, my 12 year old sister came up behind me and got really excited about the idea. So, she’ll be doing that with me when I post it. 🙂 (If you look back at my writing challenge category, she’s “the sprinkle squink”.)

        • None of my characters have come out with T’s. So weird. I thought for sure Ellis would. If he didn’t, I can’t think of any of my characters that would. 😛
That’s awesome!!! I’m so glad she wants to do it! 😀 Can’t wait to see what she comes up with.

        • Well, sometimes, if you think that one of the variables came out wrong, you can always look at what it would have been on a different type. I’ve done that on a few of them. 😉
I know! It’ll be fun to see how different our stories are. I was looking at the old man a lot, just intrigued and thinking what his story would be and she was like ” I am not doing that guy.” She just zeroed in on the middle girl. 😉
I hope to do one for all three, though. They’re all such cool pictures! Where did you find them?

        • Ooh, nice idea. I may have to do that. Although the description fit nicely, I must admit.
Writinganyone already posted hers, on the third picture, and it was nothing like what I pictured. I might have to do my idea, just to try it. Oh, and I like the middle girl, too. 😉 Her dress is gorgeous.
I found them on pixabay.com. I’ve collected over two hundred pictures from that site. XD I may have to do a picture prompt type of challenge next month. 😉

    • Luv your blog. I clicked on this article because I love character driven novels. And what did I find, picture #3 is going to be the cover of my next novel. Although my cover designer has it looking a bit different.

  1. I’m so excited to do this! 😀

So how do we submit our work? Do we link back to your page and show our work on our blog and do the description stuff? Or is there another way that I didn’t read?

  3. Starting up on my little girl story. And I’m writing from Rob’s perspective.
Rob has already established with me that he does not like kids and kids do not like him. So why do all his stories have kids in them? *slaps head* Maybe I’m just shoving the good ones at him so he’ll like them. 😛
