*deep calming breath*
It may be hard for me to get through this post with using too many exclamation points/italics/all caps, but I’ll try to tone it down.
First off, the least exciting of the two pieces of news… I finished the first draft of my WIP… which is not a work in progress anymore. 🙂 I’m so glad to have finished it. My reaction was a combination of relief and…
That pretty much sums it up. Thank you, Tom Hiddleston.
Now for the second piece of super exciting news… the really, really big one.
I am officially a published author.
She lost everything she’d ever dreamed of.
Fourteen-year-old Pam Wilson’s life is going perfectly. She and her best friend, Lauren, are becoming an amazing volleyball duo, and her dreams of playing in the Olympics are coming along wonderfully. Then a car accident paralyzes Pam from the waist down, and her dreams for her life are shattered. No more volleyball, no more walking, no more future. The only thing she has left is her faith in God… if she would only turn there.

Eeek!!! I’m so excited! Please go check it out! I’ll probably be posting more about self-publishing through Kindle Direct Publishing at some point, and possibly on cover design, since I love how this one turned out. I’d love to hear what you have to say!
And now, some memes/gifs to attempt to describe how I’m feeling…
Thank you, guys, and go check out the book! 🙂
So did you get a publisher to do this, or is this a self published thing?

I self-published it. It was a lot easier than it seemed. 🙂

Here’s my big news of the week, guys! 😀

Wow, that’s great news! Is it officially up on Amazon?

Yes, it is! If you click on the cover, it’ll take you there, and there’s also a link right above it. 🙂

We should swap lists. By the way, I adore the book cover.

We should! Although some of mine are a little… out there. 😛 I keep laughing whenever I look at the brainstorming sheet for the one I’m developing right now. That poor character. XD
Thank you! I’m such a perfectionist. I think that was my sixth attempt. 😛

Don’t worry, mine are too. Hahahaha poor thing. I’m sure my characters aren’t better off. 😛
Well, it looks perfect to me. I’d love to read a post about your experience.

Well, for this poor character I said “Hey, I’ll kill off her friend as motivation!” And then “No, I’ll make that her sister” and then it became “Oh, poor girl! It’s her twin sister!” XD
Definitely! I haven’t been able to find many detailed posts about cover design or self-publishing, so I’ll probably be making some of my own. 😀

You’re cruel, but I like it. 😀 Awesome. Now that you mention it, I think there really needs to be more articles about self-publishing. Cover design especially.

I am cruel. I’ve made my mom cry with one of my short stories before. On a plane. 😛
It’s true. I’ve been working on a cover for my fantasy story that’s currently in the beta-reading stage, and there are no articles related to that. *sigh* And being the perfectionist I am, I haven’t been satisfied with anything I’ve come up with yet. 😛

What?! I need to read that short story. On a plane. I’ve never been on one. 😦 I’m sure the design will turn out perfectly. Without any help whatsoever. You can do it!

I’ll probably post it soon, I thought I already did. *rolls eyes at self* Forgetful me. Planes are the best place to get writing done. Except your ears get all messed up.

Okay I’ll look forward to it. I’m forgetful too. 😉 Hahaha sounds fun.

yay! That is so exciting! i would love to hear more about how you accomplished it. i’m just ironing out some last things in my draft and hope to be looking for proofreaders and publishing opportunities this summer.

Thanks! I’ll definitely be doing some posts about it. That’s great! I can’t wait to read it! 😀 I definitely recommend self-publishing. The only negative things are that if you’re under 18, you can’t publish it yourself, and you have to fill out a four page tax survey. 😛 Other than that, is really easy!

Welcome to the published world! 😀
Congrats!
How was it finishing the book? That was one of my favorite parts. 🙂 I tacked on “the end” and came to the dinner table grinning like an idiot. Everyone was like “what? Why are you smiling?”
“I think…… I’m done.”
… And the cheer goes up. 🙂
Best rush in the world! 😉

I was so excited I wanted to start squealing, but I was in the middle of co-op quiet study hall, so yeah. 😛 But the rest of the day I was floating on air. 😀

What self publishing website did you use? I did lulu for mine.

I used KDP. It was really easy, except for all the tax stuff. 😛

Hmm… I didn’t really have to do any of that on lulu. But, then again, a friend who published on lulu said she had problems with tax stuff.

Yeah. Luckily my dad was the one officially doing it, so he figured it all out. 😛

Congrats from a fellow author on your published book! And wise choice on self-publishing it! I went through a traditional publishing house, and had a bad experience, and wouldn’t do it again. I plan on writing more in the future (geared on children’s picture books series with my own art) and going self published. Did you use Lulu or Amazon…or?
Thanks also for following my blog!

Thanks! My creative writing teacher had a friend who had bad experiences with traditional publishing, so I got lucky, being warned ahead of time. I used Kindle Direct Publishing. It’s fairly simple, the only complicated part is the tax info. 🙂 And you’re welcome! 😀
