Oh, I know you guys are itching to find out if Tony kills Loki, or if Loki kills Tony, or if Natasha kills them both. I’m sorry to torture you, but you’ll have to wait… See past episodes here.
There was absolute silence around the campfire. The two men managed to avoid each other’s gazes by staring into the fire. The smaller one gave an involuntary shudder and pulled his legs up to his chest.
“Thanks,” Fury said quietly from the other side of the fire, subdued for once. “Wouldn’t even be alive now if…”
Banner shook his head. “It wasn’t exactly a choice I made. It just kind of happened. Thank the… the other guy.”
Fury gazed at him. Somehow his eye patch had stayed on. Banner wondered if it was glued to his head and shook the thought away. “Hopefully I won’t get the chance to thank him,” Fury said.
The two sat in silence for a while. “Do you think anyone else made it out?” Banner asked quietly.
Fury leaned forward, his hands on his knees as he stared at the fire. “We can hope.”
—
Thor and Steve both stared blankly at the small fire Steve had managed to build. Sometimes people made him feel stupid, but at least he was smart enough to know how to build a fire. He still had a brain.
Thor interrupted the silence. “I do not wish to be a, uh, wet blanket? But what shall we do next?” Steve felt sorry for the Asgardian. All Thor’s attempts to call his hammer had failed. Steve didn’t know how it worked, but it sure wasn’t working now.
He sighed. “I’m not sure, exactly.” He looked up at the dark sky. “I guess we should just get some rest. We don’t know what tomorrow will bring, and we’ll at least have to find our own food.”
Thor nodded and immediately curled up in the sand. He looked back up at Steve for a second. “Do you think anyone else made it?”
Steve sighed. “We can hope.”
The Asgardian lay his head down. Steve felt a connection with him. They were pretty similar, in a way. This was a different world for both of them, and they were both sort of soldiers.
Steve started to lay down when his super hearing caught the sound of a twig cracking in the forest nearby. He stiffened and gazed at the forest, his night vision struggling.
He hadn’t even considered that they might not be alone.
Steve stood up, advancing towards the forest. He really, really wished he had his shield now. “Who’s there?” he demanded.
There was a chilling, bone-tingling laugh. So familiar. Steve fell towards a nearby tree, gripping it as his knees began to feel weak. In the darkness, the memories seemed almost real. There was a sneer in the voice.
“Long time, no see, Captain Rogers.”
He barely had time to register the words before he blacked out.
Mwa-ha, I am so cruel! Guess we’ll find out what happens next week… or the week after, who knows. Just FYI, we’ll find out later why Thor can’t call his hammer. (And yes, before you ask, I already have a reason. 😛 ) Any guesses on who this mysterious person is? It’s not any of the Avengers or Loki. Just so you know.
Stay positive . . . stay positive . . . at least we have a confirmation that everyone is alive. Well, we don’t have a confirmation on Hawkeye, but from what you’ve said I’m guessing he is.
As for who the new person is . . . I have no clue.

What would the Red Skull or Zola or any of the other nastyface villains be doing there? Just how many secrets were they keeping on that blame helicarrier, anyway?!

Well, the mystery person wasn’t exactly on the helicarrier… 😛 I’m not sure when, or if, I’ll be explaining how he (there’s a clue, it’s a HE) got there, but I’ve got a good story backed up.

Lalaalalala 😛 I WANT TO SEE IT SOOOO BAAAAAAAADDDD *cries*
Also, I found something adorable through a reblog of a reblog on a site that does WWII history in the context of “Captain America: The First Avenger.” *cries* Amidst more mundane (for a Marvel character) trivia, like he is supposed to be able to lift Mjolnir (duh!), etc, etc, There was this line: “Steve loves apple cake.” *cries* THAT IS SO SAD. It makes me cry all over again because he’s, as of now, 28 years old and just came out of WWII two years ago! HE WAS ONLY 24 GOING IN! *cries*
*rolls over* I don’t know. We’ll figure it out as we go along. *pretends to be a puppy* Woof! 😛

Actually, according to a quote from the Winter Soldier he’s “95, not dead.” So if he was frozen for seventy years, that would make him 25 during the Winter Soldier. Something like that.
LikeLike
But in another scene, the records say that he was born in 1918. And apparently his enlistment papers say the same thing (there are screen shots.) July 4, 1918, in fact (Which is kinda ironic.) Which makes him 26 when he went MIA, and it’s been two years since Avengers, so…. The MCU seems to suffer from faulty math, BTW. ;-P

Maybe he was rounding and didn’t want to say a hundred. 😛 I knew about the July 4th part, nearly squealed when I saw that. 😉

Heh. 😛 Yeah. “96” is still pretty close to 95, though 😛 Also, HIS BIRTHDAY… 0_0 Sheer irony or leftover comic book corniness? Still… 😛

Probably leftover comic book corniness, although I personally enjoy things like that… 😛

Yeah. (Poor kid, having a birthday that coincides with a major holiday. He probably got teased over it, and people giving combined cards… Oh well.)

Oh, yes, I’m sure. My birthday’s so close, I get Christmas/birthday presents, cards, the works.

*sigh* That’s sad. We have to make my sister’s birthday cake almost before her birthday, or we have an overload of deserts around Christmas, and my brother’s birthday is often in or shortly after Holy Week, so it’s kind of hard to make him a cake… if you know what I mean.

Yeah. Everyone else in my family has spring/summer birthdays. And then there’s mine, right in the middle of winter vacation, when everyone’s gone and you can’t have a party. 😦 My sister’s is right at the end of the school year. 😀

Eeew, work. My mom wants me to get a job this summer. Right, my only free time out of the whole year. Yippee.

*sigh* I know. Here’s a hint: work as a nanny is okay, as long it’s regular, but what “flexible hours” really means is you could be working anywhere from ten to thirty-five hours a week (that was over the holidays, ugh) and probably will get called in all the time, if you’re good at what you do. (I’m like, the second most valuable employee at the job I work–I work at a Dairy Queen–and the times I work tend to be pretty insane.) I’m hoping to get a job at the library once I’m okay to go on…

Thanks! I’m okay with kids, but my problem is that parents look at me and say “You’re how old? You look twelve!” *facepalm* I’d like to work at HPB or something. I am so not a people person. If I knew more people who needed tutoring, I could do that.

*sigh* I agree, that’s ridiculous. HPB? I’m not sure what that is…
Next summer (not this summer, next summer) I need to find an internship somewhere. Which, depending on the kind of internship, will make things even more crazy…

Ugh, internships. I don’t even want to think about majors and colleges, much less internships. If you can get an internship with Marvel doing something, DO IT. 😀

Oh! That would be so cool! I tried to get a job at Adoremus Books, but my parents weren’t aware that application processes are mostly online these days.
I don’t know… My major is supposed to be journalism (since the communications major is mostly for PR representatives…) I want to do something that can get me a job either as a teacher or editor, but I could NOT teach on less than a high school level, because the material they have for middle school and grade school and junior high? Ugh. So stupidly basic. SERIOUSLY. Gah. The school system needs a MAJOR overhaul, but it seems like it would have to come from Capitol Hill, not internally. Though it would be kind of fun to do it internally and then watch Congress go “wut…” X-P
Anyway, I’ll probably have to get an internship at a newspaper or our local radio station or TV station or something in order to be applicable… If only I weren’t also working my way through college, it MIGHT be that easy. (Fortunately, the cost of college is much lower if you choose to park off campus and walk up, live off campus, avoid the bookstore most of the time, and don’t buy meals there. That means I can actually work through college on a minimum wage job, maybe. *sigh*) On the other hand, most of the time people are just looking that you HAVE an internship, not that it’s applicable. And they’re looking that you HAVE a college degree, not what it is. *sigh* If you want actual work training, they want you to go to a vocational school.

It’s all so confusing. “Give me the superhero major, please, with a side of psychology and creative writing.” “…”
I don’t even know what I technically want to do (a counselor might be interesting, I find it fun to do psychology/body language types of things). Although I want to write, everyone I’ve talked to says not to major in Creative Writing. My interests are just way too diversified.

X-P That would be too funny!
I’m not sure… You can’t do much with a Creative Writing major. That’s all I know… I’m hoping to get into editing, working with a publishing company and building connections before I try and get myself published.

Hawkeye’s (unfortunately) not going to be in this one, since he was still under Loki’s mind control. I believe in the movie, right after the explosion was when he got on and Nat knocked sense back into him, but… that didn’t happen in this AU. 😛

I’m trying to decide whether or not I’m sad about this . . . on one hand, the fall probably would’ve done the trick to knock sense into him. On the other, he’s a lot safer than the others. 😛

Okay, I think I’ve got it. Coulson’s body was saved. When Agent Hill learned that the helicarrier was going to go down, she hurried to where he was being kept and loaded him onto the only undestroyed quinjet with her and flew him to safety. 😀 ❤ I've always been a fan of the Hill/Coulson combo…
