The Avengers: We Have A Tiger – Part Eight

At the request of the amazing erinkenobi2893, I’ve decided to post this Avengers fan fiction I wrote a while back. It’s quite long (twenty-eight pages) so it’s going to be split into quite a few parts. I hope that you will all enjoy it!

*DISCLAIMER: This story is based off of the end of The Avengers. There are illusions to spoilers for said movie, so read with caution, but most are not major. Thor: The Dark World, Iron Man 3, and Captain America: The Winter Soldier, are not taken into account, and have not been watched by the author. That said, enjoy.

Loki shut off the small device and turned to Aila, a smirk on his face. “You’ve heard their plans. Do you think you can handle the Hulk?”

Aila rolled her eyes. “Are you trying to be funny? Yes, of course. I could kill him if you wanted me to.”

Loki smiled and shook his head. “No. I want you to appear close to the SHIELD building, in tiger form, of course. That should bring out the Hulk. I want you to give him a big run for his money, without killing him, which should, by what we heard, draw the other Avengers out. Then you’ll run to the warehouse, making sure they’re following you, and, as soon as you get in and you know they’re coming in, too, you hurry out the back door. Then I’ll handle the rest.”

Aila nodded. “Right.”

Loki smiled at her sweetly. “I hate to use you as bait, darling, but—” He reached his hand toward her cheek.

She rolled her eyes again and pushed his hand away. “Please, Loki, not now.” Not ever. “Are we going to start that plan right now?”

Loki nodded slowly, a grin spreading across his face. “Oh, yes.”

———-

“I’m really surprised you volunteered yourself,” Stark said as he and Banner messed around in the lab. “Hand me those tweezers, will you?”

Banner handed Stark the tweezers. “Me too. I guess I was right, though. The other guys is the best fit for a tiger.”

Stark shrugged. “You didn’t have to volunteer, but you did. That takes guts.”

“Something’s going to take even more,” Cap said from the doorway. “We’re all to go to the meeting room. Sounds like we’ve got a tiger sighting.”

A little of the color drained from Banner’s face. “All ready?”

Stark patted the doctor on the shoulder. “You’ll be fine. Let’s go.”

They met the other Avengers in the meeting room, which they’d basically claimed as their own by now. Fury glanced at Banner. “Cap told you?” he asked. Banner nodded. “We’ll monitor from here. If she starts to run away or you’re in trouble, the rest will come after you.” He nodded to Banner. “Go get her.”

Banner nodded and hurried out of the room, his nervousness displayed on his face for all to see. “Where’s Thor?” Cap asked, looking around the room. “I thought—”

“I thought that it would be better if he didn’t get involved in this,” Fury interrupted. He nodded towards the monitors in the table top, and all of the Avengers, without Thor and Banner, at least, leaned forward to watch what happened.
